CROC Project Wins Gold Award From BP Conservation Programme
The
2002 awards were announced on April
19th 2002 by the guest of honour, Baroness
Barbara Young, the Chairman of the UK Environment
Agency. The awards ceremony was held at Wenlock Road,
a BP events site in London.
19
projects were given support totalling £125,000. Four awards
were given to teams doing follow-up work totalling £54,500 and
15 awards were given to first year 'primary' projects divided
into gold, silver and bronze totalling £70,500.
The
winning projects are based in 17 different countries and will
be carrying out work ranging from endangered fish species conservation
in Montenegro, to the protection of a green corridor connecting
two protected areas of the Inland Atlantic Forest in Argentina.
Celebrating
its 17th year in 2002, the BP Conservation Programme is a joint
initiative between wildlife conservation organisations BirdLife
International and Fauna & Flora International and for the
twelfth successive year is supported by BP.
