Regional Network for Indigenous Peoples


The Regional Network for Indigenous Peoples in Southeast Asia (RNIP) was established to safeguard, restore and protect natural livelihood resources for the sake of poverty alleviation for indigenous peoples (IP) in the South East Asia region through the development of strong and sustainable regional network. In this regard the RNIP implements activities, in cooperation and partnership with civil society organizations (CSOs), geared towards the betterment of the livelihood of indigenous peoples.

These activities include the provision of a trust fund for poverty alleviation projects of partner CSOs, empowerment trainings for partner CSOs or their partners, and influencing policy development on indigenous peoples. It is in this regard that it is incumbent on RNIP to implement mechanisms by which the implementation of these activities is rationalized.


Objective:

To safeguard, restore and protect natural livelihood resources for the sake of poverty alleviation for indigenous peoples (IP) in Southeast Asia.


Key Outputs:

  • An active regional network for knowledge exchange and capacity building Local communities of indigenous peoples and CSOs strengthened and able to support cultural identity Improved planning and management (sustainable use) of natural livelihood resources (ecosystem management). Enhanced property and user rights for indigenous communities. Additional income for local IPs from enhanced productive functions of natural livelihood resources.
